Kidney-Pancreas Transplant
Sutter Transplant and Outpatient Heart Specialty Clinics
For patients with Type I diabetes and end-stage renal disease, a combination kidney/pancreas transplant is an important treatment option. The procedure involves replacing the pancreas of a person with diabetes with a healthy pancreas capable of producing insulin. The healthy pancreas comes from a donor who has just died.
Sutter Transplant Services has been performing kidney/pancreas transplants since 1995. Though less commonly performed than kidney-only transplants, Sutter Transplant Services has achieved excellent survival rates.
That success is due to the combination of medical care and personal attention each transplant patient and donor receives. Our team includes surgeons, specialists, nurse coordinators, social workers, dieticians, and specially trained nurses who work together to help patients complete each step of the journey while providing the highest level of personal care.
