Cardiac Rehabilitation
Sutter Heart & Vascular Institute
What is Cardiac Rehabilitation?
Cardiac Rehabilitation is a medically supervised program of exercise and education that will not only help you lead a healthy life after a cardiac event, but will also help you prevent a cardiac episode if you have been diagnosed with any of the warning signs for these episodes.
Sutter Heart & Vascular Institute is the Sacramento Sierra region leader in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs for those affected with heart failure. Cardiologists work with physical therapists, nurses, and exercise physiologist to ensure safe steady progress to a healthy heart after cardiovascular surgery, heart attacks, and other heart-related conditions.
The professional staff will develop an individually tailored education and exercise program for you based on your medical history and your cardiovascular needs. In addition to rehab programs, Sutter offers ongoing Cardiovascular Risk Management classes that help teach a balance of exercise, nutrition, and stress reduction into the lifestyle of those affected with heart disease.
Who will benefit from Cardiac Rehabilitation?
Cardiac Rehab is for individuals who have angina, congestive heart failure, valvular disease, and for those recovering from heart attack, cardiac surgery, angioplasty (PTCA), atherectomy, rotoblator, and stent placement. People with cardio risk factors such as: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, physical inactivity, emotional issues (depression and anxiety), stress, and obesity will also benefit from cardiac rehabilitation prevention and maintenance programs.
